How can we use people, and local assets to make Wolverhampton a better place?

Give local businesses an opportunity to set up a temporary shop in the city centre (for two days only perhaps), kind of like they do in the Apprentice.

Provide the basic equipment that a retail business would need - tills, shelving, display units - maybe even a shop assistant - but the businesses would bring their own stock and temporarily decorate as required.

Keep this going for a few weeks and ask customers to participate in an online survey at the end to vote for their favourite 'pop up shop'! Whoever gets the most votes will win a free month long lease.

Rinse and repeat!

This would surely encourage trade and innovation. Also, opening city centre shops out to businesses that would never usually be able to afford the expensive rents would surely result in a real variety of available products!
